John Cramer Jr., 20, of St. Augustine, died from injuries from a motorcycle accident Saturday night.
Cramer was traveling south on State Road A1A approaching San Rafael Street, wearing his helmet on his Suzuki motorcycle, when an Chevrolet sport utility vehicle attempted to turn left from San Rafael to go north on A1A.
The SUV crossed the path of the motorcycle, which witnesses estimated to be going 90 mph.
Crash investigator Philip Delgado said that although they have yet to calculate his exact speed, Cramer was definitely going over the speed limit.
Unable to stop, Cramer struck the left side of the SUV, causing it to overturn on its right side.
The driver of the SUV, Paul Orlik, 55, and the passenger, Grace Orlik, 53, both of St. Augustine, also suffered injuries. All those involved in the wreck were transported to Flagler Hospital.
The Florida Highway Patrol is conducting a homicide investigation.
Road and Traffic Issues:
Roscoe Boulevard Accidents
Safety is the issue on Roscoe Boulevard north of Palm Valley Road. After three deaths in May 2005 and more than 200 crashes since 1994, the county was forced to look at the problem.
The people who live on the road have held town meetings and recommended, among other things, more street signs and no passing zones.
The county added more speed limit signs, expanded the no-passing zones and patched the shoulders. The Sheriff's Office enforced the speed limit. The issue continues . . .
