This year’s
birthday rocked! (even tho I was
supposed to have the day off and had to work after all). I was touched to see that so many remembered
this year with e-cards and postings to their blogs. Thanks Stacy, Keenu, Tina, Emmy, Gissy and
Math, Orbs, Ainvar, Adele, Joyce and Bob, Danny and Olivia. I was also thrilled
to get phone calls (Steve and Angel and Tonya). I was able to spend most of my day celebrating
it with my sisters online while at work. I am beyond words touched. Thank you …. All of you for the kind words
and wishes.
My accounting group at
work went out and bot me flowers – red roses and stargazer lilies (2 of my
favorites) and a cake. They even sung me
happy birthday. This may not sound like
much, but the group I work with are notoriously underpaid…it was also the first
cake I’d had in 20 years that I didn’t have to bake or buy for myself. (Added bonus it was carrot cake – again one of
my favorites).
Dinner that
evening was deli food with I didn’t have to cook – just re-heat – poached
salmon, grilled veggies, garden sliced tomatoes, garlice bread and a nice bottle of red wine – a very lush California
Cabernet from a dear friend’s own winery – thank you Keith and Laura.
I bought
myself a gift this year – a nice pendant with a teardrop shaped moonstone and
an aquamarine set higher in a silver filigree setting. I should have spent the money on what I
needed (a new bathrobe) but sometimes you have to buy what you like not what
you need and birthdays are as good an excuse as any other. But the best gift of all? Friends. Family. Thank you, each and every
one of you. I love you all.
